Abstract
This paper focused on the audience perception of Hausa female Muslim rap
artists in Kano and Kaduna states. The study came into existence due to the
nature of the two different states, culturally and religiously, hence the study set
to attain the following objective to find out the audience perception of Hausa
female Muslim artists in Kano and Kaduna states Nigeria. In order to achieve
the above, the study used the quantitative approach of carrying out research by
adopting a survey through distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The
researcher purposively targeted viewing centers in the two states, in order to
reach out to the respondents. The questionnaires were later analysed using
frequency count and simple percentage. In the end the type perception will
help in understanding the experiences of the artists in the society. Based on the
findings of the study, it was established that the artists are perceived in a
negative way in Kano and Kaduna states and that cultural and religious factors
of the two societies contributed to the negative perception of the audience.
